How to Play Rummy

There are typically either 2 player games or 6 player games. Generally, it is played with 1 to 2 standard decks of 52 cards in 13 card rummy format where all players are dealt with 13 cards. One card is randomly selected and declared as the wild card Joker.

There is an open pile and a closed pile. When it is their turn, players have to draw one card and discard one card. On the RummyTime platform, you can arrange all your cards using the “Sort” option. You can draw a card from the closed or the open pile by tapping on them and then discard one card by using the “Discard” option.

As stated earlier, all players will have to arrange their cards into sequences and sets. And, the player who makes the first valid declaration is the winner.

Your first goal when you start the game is to make a pure sequence. A pure sequence is made without the help of a joker (although if a wild card joker fits in the sequential order then it can be used to form a pure sequence). No valid declaration can happen without a pure sequence, so that’s the top priority.

Discard all idly high-value cards that are not part of a sequence or a set. This is to avoid losing by a large margin on the off chance someone else ends up making a valid declaration before you. Avoid picking up from the discard pile to avoid fishing

Instead of slotting the joker anywhere, make sure you slot them between high-value cards to create sequences and sets. This way you will avoid losing by a large margin in case someone else makes a valid declaration before you get the chance to do so.
